Tpw FInal Product Process

Drawing Process throughout this semester

Describe your scientific/creative process to develop drawing skills to create your anatomical drawings

Picture
I think the first time we had to draw in biology/environmental science was when we did our abstracted observations. For abstracted observations, we would have to find different areas on campus and off campus and hold up a framing device to that specific area we chose. We would then draw whatever we saw in the framing device on a page inside our observation journal. We learned more about drawing as Ms. Nuvia showed us the elements of art and how could apply them to our own drawings. When she showed us the elements of art, she then gave us objects that she brought from her house and we had to draw those objects using the elements of art. I visually expressed where my power came from by drawing the brain because in my story I talk about my mental health. I also drew the heart because my story is something that really hits close to home for me.

What did you learn about the scientific process through the creative process?

I learned that the scientific process is more based on quantitative data, as in statistics, measurements, etc. The create process is more based on qualitative data such as your five senses which are sight, hear, smell, touch, and taste.

WHat challenges did you encounter in creating your best work? How did you overcome them?

A challenge I encountered when creating my best work was when I drew my anatomical drawings of the heart and brain. I am not good at drawing, so that was already a struggle. But as I drew the outline of both the heart and brain, I was having trouble adding value and texture to both of my drawings. I overcame this challenge by getting critique from Ms. Nuvia and using the techniques she showed me in order to create value and texture.

What are you most proud of in creating your best work?

I am most proud of listening to the critique that I got from my peers and Ms. Nuvia on how I could improve my two drawings. I think the critique I got helped me become successful and proud of my work.
