In the beginning of this year, our very first project was to create a team banner. It took our team about 3 weeks to fully complete our banner. We did this project as a fun way to start of our first year as high schoolers! In this project, we learned measurements like the Metric and English system. We worked on this project in both physics and art class. In art, we learned about colors.
What I Learned
In this project, we learned how to handle safety tools. We learned about science, physics, and measurements. Like the metric prefixes: M - Mega k - kilo h - hecto dk - deka mlg - meter, liter, gram (base units) d - deci c - centi m - mili µ - micro n - nano We also learned how to convert inches into centimeters and vice versa. We also learned the common English conversions:
12 inches = 1 foot
3 feet = 1 yard
1760 yd = 1 mile
5280 feet = 1 mile
2000 lbs = 1 ton
16 oz = 1 lb
12 items = 1 dozen
The traditional fields of physics are:
Sound
Optics
Mechanics
Thermodynamics
Electromagnetism
Forces
The modern fields are:
Atomic and nuclear physics
Cryogenics
Quantum physics
Particle physics
Plasma physics
Relativity
Reflection
In this project, I think a habit of heart and mind that I used the most was cooperation. I used cooperation in my group by splitting my group which was four people into 2 groups with two people. That way, it would be much easier to make our grid and got us done on time. Also, I think I used perseverance by coming after school to work on the banner to get a group's piece done. I am most proud of how the banner turned out overall because I think each group really tried to get their piece down and really put effort into it.
