A subatomic particle is a particle that is smaller than an atom. For example, a neutron. Quantum physics is able to describe the nature and behavior of a subatomic particle. For this mini-project, we had to create a subatomic plushie along with a training card to go with it. For your plushie, you had to make sure it was filled with the appropriate mass meaning that if your particle had a large mass it should be filled with rocks, and if your particle had a small mass, it should be filled with fluff. For the training card, it needed to include how it was discovered, which scientists discovered it, and much more information about our particle.
Physics Concepts
In this project, we learned about different dimensions. There are 10 different dimensions and we live in the 3rd dimension. Also, since I studied Tau Neutrino, I was able to learn a lot about them because of all the research I had done. I learned that neutrinos are an essential ingredient in the universe since they help scientists understand the most fundamental questions in physics. I learned about the different 3 different families which are Leptons, Bosons, and Hadrons. As you can see down below, my particle belongs in the Lepton family.
Reflection
For my plushie, I am very proud of how it turned out. Before this project, I somewhat knew how to sew, but I was not very good at it. So I really liked how the end result of my pushie looked, it turned out very nice. If I could change anything about my plushie, I would have designed it differently and made it into a more complex shape/design. I would've liked to do this because I honestly think my plushie looks very plain and boring. This project has made me realize how important particles are since they make up the earth. Before this project, I had absolutely no idea what particles purpose was, but I am very glad that I was able to learn.
