I am passionate about body image because it is something that I have personally been struggling with for years. I also know that there are other teenagers my age who are struggling with it, and I would like to bring awareness of body positivity. Body image is something that I see a lot on social media, and I think it's discouraging for younger kids to look at what the media portrays as attractive, and see that if they don't live up to those standards or look like what they see, they think they're unattractive. I grew up having little to no self confidence, and even to this day I struggle with finding confidence. I want to bring body positivity to others and let them know that they're beautiful in their own skin and that they don't have to conform to society. This is the first step towards our social justice project. Later on in this semester, I will be creating a zine that talks about body image.

This collage represents my chosen social topic. This is the first draft of my zine cover that I created. I made this when my class took a field trip to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCASD). Creating this zine has helped me learn more about my social topic because finding images that represent body image really pushes me to think deeper of what pictures would look good on my zine and what wouldn't.
