A skill that I have done a pretty good job at carrying with me throughout all my years of school has been organization. Being organized will help me at my internship site because I know that since I am basically a teacher’s aid, I will most likely sort the teacher’s paperwork and grade students’ work. Having good organization skills will help me not misplace any paperwork that may be important. A skill that I would like to improve on is my time management skills. I have noticed myself falling back into the routine of waiting the very last minute to do an assignment and I would like to work on that. I know that in a real job, due dates are crucial and there will not be an exception for late work. I think that I have been so accustomed to thinking that teachers will accept late work, but in the real world, that’s not the case at all. There’s not going to be people who accept late work and gave you partial credit for it, and that is something that I need to realize.

Another skill I would like to work on is asking for help when I need it. A lot of the times during class I am too afraid to ask my peers for help which results in me not doing any work since I am either confused on what we’re supposed to be doing or I just have no idea what to do. I want to work on this skill because while I am at my internship, I may be assigned a task that is new to me. If I get assigned a task that I have very little experience of, I want to be able to ask for help instead of being confused which would result in not getting the task done at all. I remember on the first day of internship, Mrs. Nuvia gave us a paper that had 5 tips on what to be doing during our internships and one of the tips was “Always be doing something”. That tip really stuck with me and if I am unable to ask for help them I will most likely not do anything. Now as for my internship project, I am unsure of what I want to do. Since I have two of my peers at my internship site with me, I thought of possibly doing a internship project together. One day during internship prep, Mrs. Nuvia had invited old juniors to share their internship experience. There was this one kid in particular who had a really good internship project in my opinion. He told us that he had set up an advisory olympics for the different grades. Advisory olympics is an annual event that High Tech High Chula Vista puts on every year where students compete against other students in different games. I thought that was a good internship project and I think that not only would the kids have a good experience, but so would I.
