Don't Worry, Be Happy

Since I have been at my internship site for two weeks now, I have noticed different qualities/characters in both students and teachers that I would like to develop. A characteristic I see in the teachers and students at my internship site that I want to develop in myself is a positive attitude. Every morning when I’m greeted by the kids, they have such a positive attitude and it’s a great thing to see which puts me in a better mood. I would like to develop having more of a positive attitude because being negative will get you nowhere. Having a positive attitude will allow me to become more happy and hopefully encourage others to become more positive as well. When I walk to my teacher mentor’s classroom in the morning, I am always greeted with a “Good Morning and how are you?” I reply back with a Good Morning as well and share how I am, and my mentor does the same. My mentor’s attitude is something that I would like to develop in myself.

My mentor is someone who stands up for what they believe in and makes sure that their voice is heard. I am one of those people who has a lot of thoughts but I never share them. My mentor has taught me a lot of valuable life lessons in these two weeks. There is this teacher named Ms. Dwyer at my school who has a great personality. When I am on lunch, I see her in the staff lounge and she always has a smile on her face and she’s laughing. She seems like a really positive person and I aspire to be a person like that. Besides her personality, her eating habits is something that I have noticed and want to apply to my own life. I have noticed that her eating habits are more on the healthier side and recently I have been wanting to get more into a healthier eating habit rather than the eating habits I currently have at the moment. Another characteristic I see at my internship that I want to develop in my life is friendliness. All of the staff at my site are very friendly and it has made my internship experience even better than I had imagined. Since last week was Teacher Appreciation Week and this week was Classified Appreciation Week, there has been food during the morning and lunch inside of the staff lounge. Since I am still fairly new, I felt kind of weird just getting food, so I wouldn’t get anything. The staff would always tell me that I am welcome to get food which I thought was very kind of them.
