Drones

Description

In this project, we were put into groups of 3 to learn how to assemble and fly a Crazyfile 2.0 drone. We then read articles about drones and annotated them. With all the knowledge we have about drones from reading articles, we started having Socratic seminars discussing drones and our thoughts o the articles. Then, we had to team up with another group of 3 and we were assigned roles. There were Project Manager, Drone Lead, Pilot Lead, Engineer Lead, Documentarian Lead, & Graphic Designer Lead. I was the Documentarian Lead in this case. Meaning I was in charge of gathering artifacts and evidence for our group's binder. Our group's topic was "Aviation Power in War" meaning we had to find information that showed air crafts being used in war. We also had to create a video that included specific requirements to showcase that at exhibition. In addition, we created a website that include our daily progress, pictures, and all the engineering that was involved. With all those things completed, we showcased them and our little Crazyfile drone 2.0 at exhibition while wearing lab coats.

Physics Concepts

Since my group's topic was "Aviation Power in War" we learned a lot about that. We learned that by the end of WWII, the Allied Forces which was Britain, France, & USA were the most powerful air forces in the world. We also learned about how drones are being used in society today and how they might be used in war to save lives. Also, I learned how drones are being used in society and the different types of drones that are being used. Adding on to drones, I learned about the different forces that can act on a drone which are Thrust, Pitch, Yaw, & Roll.
Thrust - A force that pushes the drone to accelerate and pick up
Pitch - The movement of which causes the drone to either move forwards or backwards
Yaw - The movement that causes the drone to move left and right
Roll - The movement that causes the drone to rotate either left or right and move in that direction

Reflection

I am proud of how our Drone WeVideo turned out because I only had like a couple of days to work on it, and even though I felt rushed, I still put 100% effort into it and made sure it looked nice and neat. Also, I am very proud of all the work our group did. There were times when we were off task and didn't do work, but we ended up making up for it in the end. Even though, we were rushing to get our work done, we were still able to complete it all, and I couldn't be more proud seeing how all of us persevered. For our video, I think I would've made the transitions a lot neater so it wouldn't look choppy. Also, I think that my group should've changed our drone mission. We didn't focus much on our drone mission actually, and we didn't realize how challenging it'd be to fly the Crazyfile drone 2.0 through our obstacles, so that's why we never really got around to changing it.
