Borderline Cases: Pictures that Enlighten and Words that Deceive

Description

From this project, I was able to learn a lot more about immigrants and what scary experiences they go through in order to get to the U.S. I also learned more about what is happening Central America and what is causing people to leave such as human sex trafficking, violence, and abuse. For our final product, we had to create a drawing that answered one of the five essential questions.

Essential Questions

1. Why do people immigrate to other countries?
2. What are the challenges they might face when entering a new country?
3. What is the difference between acculturation and assimilation?
4. What things are essential or necessary to achieve success in the US?
5. Is there an American dream? Is it for everyone?

Reflection

When it was my shift in the art room, not many people showed up. Although, I did talk to a couple of visitors. It was a good experience because some guests looked interested when they saw a bunch of different artworks on the wall. I'm proud of how comfortable I was when talking to guests. I was more comfortable compared to my other shift because for this shift, we had a script to follow and they made it easy for me.
